What I love is hearing the disappointed right wing pundits wondering ruefully when we're ever going to have a rational debate about nuclear (which for them axiomatically means adopting it). Well, guess what, precious petals, we did (and actually already done so several times before) and we decided very rationally to reject it.

My favourite piece of evidence was that when Fatih Birol, the head of the vigorously pro-nuclear but not entirely irrational International Energy Agency visited Australia a year or so ago, he said quite unequivocally that we simply didn't need it and it wasn't right for us.

Now nuclear probably will be necessary in some countries and I can live with that - even okay with very carefully exporting uranium to the more sane and stable nuclear powered nations - but all the evidence categorically indicates we shouldn't adopt it here.
