Nuclear power is not the panacea to the climate crisis. We will not "starve & freeze in the dark," nor "wreck our economy," if we transition to a renewable energy economy, based on solar, wind, hydroelectric and geothermal energy. We have the technology and natural resources now to transition to a "soft energy path, without nuclear or fossil fuel. All we lack is the political will to do so because the dying, profit addicted, nuclear, fossil fuel and for profit, centralized electric utility industries have bought the votes of our elected leaders from both the Republicans and the Democrats in Washington,
DC and in the State Houses of Government of the United States.
True, but also - the prevailing culture of endless growth, consumerism, and profit as the goal of every industry and activity - has to be changed. True conservatism is needed - conserving energy in particular.
Oh I didn't know that women in France live longer than those in Denmark. Of course! Nothing to do with their fine medical system, their more congenial climate, their agricultural resources, more mediterranean-style diet. Of course, it must be the emissions from the nuclear reactors which have made French women so healthy !!
